My First Friend Poem by Rosemary Monahan

I remember when I first
came to this town
I didn't know anyone
had no friends to call my own.
Then one day I met you
No longer did I feel alone.
We became very close back then
You were even in my wedding
I had a life to live with my man
Just like you with your husband.
Now time has flew by so fast
Its been years since I saw you last
Please forgive me, my old friend
I didn't mean for it to end
I have found another friend like you
And I promise you with all my heart
I won't let time pass us by
Me and my new friend will never part.
