My Friend Darlington Poem by Martin Greyford

My Friend Darlington

Rating: 5.0

It was a long time ago,
When we first met in forth grade.
We were young and loved to play a lot.
Never concentrated on school things
But played a lot.

I have almost forgotten
How we became friends,
But he was there, then,
In front of me always,
Bright like - my dream.

And then the wall between us
Started falling down slowly,
Between me and him,
It was falling slowly, slowly,
Dimming, hidingfrom the light of friendship.

After passing from seventh grade,
We parted ways for two good solid years
And it was like he died,
The broken walls rose so rapidly
And so strong that I couldn't see the light

I lay down in the shadow,
No longer the light of friendship before me,
Above me.
Only the thick wall.
Only the shadow.

Although my friend didn't really die,
He just moved to another school
But it was like he died to me.
No where to be seen.
No communication between us.

My hands!
Help me to shatter this darkness,
To break through the wall.
To smash this wall in front of me and
To break this shadow into a thousand lights of friendship.

We all passed ninth grade to high school.
The wall that was separating us now broken.
The dawn of friendship started and never did it set again til today.

He was my friend,
He is still my friend and
He will always be my friend.
My friend and brother, Darlington.
You are at heart buddy.
