My Friends Are Not Many Poem by Francis Duggan

My Friends Are Not Many

My friends are not many but as friends they are true
And they are great people for to give them their due
I know that to them i can turn to if of helping i am in need
My friends may be few but as friends they are true indeed
Those who on the ladder of success have climbed far
Do not really know who their true friends are
But people like i am who exist from day to day
Should know who our friends are only true for to say
Feel lucky if you have a few good friends in the town
Who will not forsake you when you are mentally and financially down
So good to know you have a good friend or two
That when you are in trouble will not forsake you
Our acquaintances are many and our friends are so few
And this is not saying anything that is new.
