My Heart On A Platter Poem by Cory Jensen

My Heart On A Platter

I gave you my heart on a silver platter
No strings attached; no contract to sign.
Just your absolute love in return
In exchange for mine.
I've lived in darkness for far too long
Dwelling in the realms of my own prison cell.
You've found the key that unlocks my chains.
Shedding light into my black hell.
Giving you the weapons to tear me down
The barbed words to rip my inner soul out.
Trusting you never to utter one
When it comes to loving you, I have no doubts.
My trembling hand is eased by your steady grace.
All my wildness becomes bridled and tamed.
My iron heart melts at your slightest touch.
I'm guilty of love; This is no frame.
Time will tell if our love is true
Goodbye will never show its face.
Goodbye means going away.
Going away means forgetting
In my heart; you'll keep your place.
