My Like For Your Love Poem by Ibn Ali

My Like For Your Love

Look,
I know you love me,
It's evident,
But your insecurities demand me say it first,
But it's slower for me,
I liked and lusted,
And why wouldn't I,
That arch in your stance,
Slight tilt in your neck,
Lipstick shade was kissable red,
I was indulgent,
You fed me and I dined,
I drank you whole,
And not a drop was wasted,
Me, I had to charm you,
My words navigate the maze of your delight,
Reverse engineering,
I have you in my grasp,
I made you more than chuckle,
You laughed, till you lost your comportment,
You failed to stifle your laughter,
I saw your molars,
Even with your imperfections
I deemed you flawless,
But I was loveable,
You: ironic,
Defined by your beauty,
Yet wishing men would further quarry your other features,
But they'd only do so
Because they liked what's on the surface,
I could've failed like so many men before,
But failure's only absolute without persistence,
You've never had to charm a man with charisma,
A flash of white, a half a glance,
The smallest gesture would do,
Rife with presumption,
So you see, it's hard for me to love you for your substance,
You've never needed it,
It's good for you that men are shallow,
And have eyes,
Disingenuous magnanimity,
Otherwise you'd never thrive,
This is why,
Your love's reciprocated with like,

Me the sycophant,
I pieced you together,
A picture so vague
I resent you for the effort,
And why,
Just so you'd exploit my weakness,
That weakness all men have,
Just because you're beautiful,
Something you never earned
Or worked hard for,
Rather it made you lazy,
Made you feel entitled,
Me, I'm normal,
Though my mum would disagree,
But I don't mind,
This normalcy's a means to attain virtue.
