My Nearest And Dearest Poem by Joyce Hemsley

My Nearest And Dearest

Death came and took his breath away.
In the early light of dawning.
I cannot recall a sadder morning
The sky above was dapple grey
Blurring my vision, tainting the day.

'They' came to take his body away
A flood of salty tears came storming
Never was there a drearier morning.
With my senses all in disarray,
I fell upon my knees to pray.

Then came the coffin where he lay.
Lilies of pink and white adorning.
My head I covered, rain was pouring
I thought on the Holy Resurrection,
And vision cleared, to face a new day.
