Miles away my village
through rocky thorny way, yet
I love going there!
Across the farm greens,
caressing thin coarse leaves
I love going there!
Wading through the slimy mud,
slashing in shallow river beds
I love going there!
Chasing butterflies,
taunted by honeybees
I love going there!
Warbling pastorals,
chartered on a bullock-cart
I love going there!
Wow you caught the beauty of your village in this poem..........loved it
It is rather unfortunate that our present generation do not have any contact with the village. In fact a vast majority have not seen a village! Let this poem be dedicated to them! -Raj Nandy
a nice poem giving the picture, live, of native village life once enjoyed...liked
'I love going there' is used as a refrain to regain a sense of belonging. A fulfillment one keeps replenished. I like this poem very much. It expresses a basicness that has solidified your 'foundation'. Very nice.
