My World Grows Smaller Poem by Biff McGuire

My World Grows Smaller

As the universe expands
My word grows smaller
Every cell that fails is
But a grain of sand falling
In my hourglass of life
Every friend that has passed
Shrinks the space around me
Making the next in line more precious
Every tear that falls
Drains a tiny ration of love
Until its drought leaves me weathered
In the wind and thirsty to drink
From life’s fountain again
