Mymensingh - Poem by Ahmed Toslim

by the river, by the fireflies
into the breeze, by my shadow
near the rough current
to the opposite dense greens
beside an open large field,
among the village kids
deep in the jackfruit old growths
and sometimes in a gentle jungle
aside narrow country roads,
ponds and ducklings and chickens
cows and horses and those madmen
TajMohonpur to Tanmahishtara
and the lovely Sonarga, Kalibari
Kashimpur, Muktagacha and the
sleeping brahmaputra, oh bengal!
Mymensingh makes me closer now
i find myself, i find the truth.
beneath the stars, to you the soil
so gold and your pure fragrance.
