Myself Poem by Fergal Dunne

Myself

I cheated myself,
Then I cheated you.
I came from behind
You thought I was through.
Substance a plenty
Filled the room.
Never ending long lines,
Fruit of the loom.
Back to basics!
I heard someone say.
Back to black,
I'll go Amy's way.
Living on borrowed time,
Here in an empty bed.
Nobody’s watching
I'm already dead.
I lied to myself
then I lied to you.
I went and shot off
You thought I was true.
Another 4 am.
Do I need a friend?
Its cold on the floor
Is that ceiling the end?
All contact is closed,
Nobody’s allowed in.
A world made for one,
Now is that a sin.
The last days are predictable,
Without any friends.
Please look away now
Because this is the end.
