National Doctors Day 2013, India Poem by Dr John Celes

National Doctors Day 2013, India

Who can forget the role a doctor plays
in lives of patients, young and old, always?
Who can ignore the healers’ noble ways,
In taking care of sick brethren, all days?

Let world thank doctors from their hearts this day;
Doctors save lives by the scores, come what may;
Their service, love and care, none can repay;
‘They help to heal; God heals’, most people say!

Garland doctors with red carnation flowers;
Greet them and honor them with great awards;
Extol them, praising them by wordy showers;
Goad them to serve the sick by big rewards.

Remind the world the good that doctors do;
God blesses them with health good, wealth in life;
Let Hippocratic Oath, doctors renew,
Relieving pain and suffering, found so rife!

Let doctors strive to find cures for ailments;
Let them rededicate lives for this cause;
Let ethics rule their work, experiments;
Let conscience guide them save lives, limbs sans loss!

Let doctors take the pledge of sacrifice;
Humanism must make their patients smile;
Let doctors nurture virtues, give up vice;
Thank God for human angels for a while!

The Dean and Professor of Medicine, IRT PMC &H, RTS, Perundurai wishes
‘A Happy Doctors Day! ’ to medicos, internees and doctors, world-o'er.
May they serve the sick, selflessly, spontaneously and splendidly!
