Nature Poem by Raymond Farrell

Nature

Rating: 5.0

The forces of nature
Will not be abated
By the pleas of mankind
No matter how eloquent
No matter if the words
Are chiselled in marble
Nature that so-called mother
So many eulogize
Is a harsh mistress
You may embrace her as a lover
But she will not embrace you
Her beauty and fury
Are unleashed without bias
And are one and the same
She is savage, she is gentle
She is all things simultaneously
She may destory Pompeii
And at the same moment
Allow the people
Of Alexandria
To bask in her sun
On the other side of the sea
She is a force
That gives birth
And extinguishes life
In the same moment of time.

I would like to kiss your hand, my dear poet, for writing such an outstanding ode on the powers of the nature. I quote: Her beauty and fury / Are unleashed without bias / And are one and the same / She is savage, she is gentle. Thanks.
