(Soldiers who never return home)
Never growing old
Knowing joys of fatherhood
Sharing birthdays of love ones
Happy with supporting wife.
Walking daughter down church aisle
Giving her hand in marriage
To man she loves
Becoming proud grandfather.
Entering old age without regret
Years of precious memories
Ending days much loved
Surrounded by family and friends.
But fell a young soldier
On a foreign battlefield
Leaving parents weeping
And children never to be born.

A sobering poem. Really makes you ponder. Thanks for posting, Colin.
