New Life Poem by Kayla Bryant

New Life

Things happen for a reason
Or at least that's what they say.
I try to live life in spite of fear,
and in spite that this could be my last day.
What is 'the right way' to live?
I don't think there is such a thing.
Would you leave your dream behind,
if God said it wasn't where you're supposed to be?
I live the way I think is right,
but I let people interfere.
If you hate me, then hate me.
But I don't even want to hear it.
I'm not fighting back unless it's worth fighting for,
and there is nothing in the world,
that could tear me to the core.
I have all I need,
and all I want has no value.
I know in my heart what is righteous and true.
This new life of mine isn't easy,
but I should've chosen it long ago.
Now I know what I've been missing,
and it's a good feeling to know.
