New Truth Poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

New Truth

New truth and lies
There had been a war that lasted five years
All musical instruments had been confiscated
People are not supposed to enjoy themselves
When the enemy rapes it,
Pencils, paper and typewriter had also been
Handed in some crazy people may write
The truth and hand sheets of papers around
For an ironic reason, they were called traitors.
From dark basements, people came running out,
Freedom and music can anything be sweeter
And for a sort time, everyone was equal but old
Political rivalry and lies saw the light of day.
Today we are bombarded by the fake truth
Newspapers sing from the same hymn sheet
It is time for dissenting voices from writers
And poets who know what the masses think
But are unable to express it coherently.
