Night Eyes Poem by Richard Blanch

Night Eyes

To Nyx
Goddesses and Gods walk among us unrecognised. Look about you. They wait. (Edwin Stapley)

How evening seals itself in night, silently glowing,
Though the sun shines bright off your long locks, eerily throwing
Shadows on lashes and eyes that need none. It is always
Dark there, black shading black, pupil mingling with iris. Day
Comes with a sparkle, a glittering, but as of light
Reflected: the ebony sheen of a lake too deep for sight,
For anything but stars hidden and a cosmic haunting. A dream
Of silken paradox, a keen and burning beam
Of sheer and icy space that has no sky. These metaphors. They only seem. -
Your eyes are. Let them bathe my soul away in their unimaginable stream.
