He doesn't answer,
Nor do I know his heart
Will he betray me
Himself or hold my pledge
My gift, close to him...
Letting it comfort him?

I don't know
Except that I act
Like a woman in love
With a man not my husband
Tho' I be pleased with the
one I've got.

I don't mean to cross the line
I don't mean to be unkind.
I don't mean to be to be to be
An unfaithful wife.
In my heart,
but not in my body
I am.
