No More Reason For Rhyming Poem by Ryan John Payne

No More Reason For Rhyming

There was no more reason for rhyming
Because I discovered that rhythmic timing
Was not always charming.
I avoided phrases that sounded alarming
To the ears of my little darling,
Although she might not have minded
More praising and fawning.
However, I find that now she is...
Yawning.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I don't remember my original inspiration for this poem, but I do remember wondering how to end it, and I remember seeing one of my daughters yawning, as kids do when it's near bedtime. That helped me to finish this poem. I have always loved making things rhyme.
