No One Gets It Poem by Lindsay King

No One Gets It

Rating: 4.0

No one gets it
No one gets it
Except for us
I tried to die
Just so I could
Feel alive
Taste the death
Upon my lips
So close
But unrequited
Like us
I could almost
Touch it
Like you
And no one gets it
No one gets it
Except for you
And I opened up
In a moment of
Being weak
Only to find that
It wasn’t you
Who heard these words
From my mouth
But he didn’t get it
He never got it
Nobody saw through me
Like you did
And nobody saw through you
Like I did
And no one gets it
Except for us
In a poem
You shall never see
In a journal
I’m not supposed to read
We understand
We’re not supposed to be
We understand
We’re not supposed to talk
But it doesn’t take much
To break that rule
‘Cause no one,
Oh no one gets it
No one gets it
Except for us
I saw you crawling
That day
On your hands and knees
Begging for it
To all end
And my friend
She saw you
At that party
Sitting alone
And you saw me
In my most vulnerable state
And you know that
I opened up to the wrong man
Yet again, yet again
We’ll never get it right
We’ll never see the light
And no one gets it
Except for us
