No Victory Poem by Barry Middleton

No Victory

Rating: 5.0

I found the mountaintop
and saw eternity

I swam from the riptide
with fear as my companion

I dared the demon's lair
to call the dragon's bluff

I defeated every foe
and left them far behind

I turned the hurricane
and fled the fire of war

But victory was lost
when love abandoned me

A very touching poem. Whatever our accomplishments may be, they are worthless if love is not present to bear witness. A profound message, succinctly stated.

Beautiful n poignant. Love is the best part of life. No victory is worth having if we are defeated in love.

It can happen. And yes it is a tragic tale.
