Not The Smartest Man Poem by Ray Hansell

Not The Smartest Man

I've never been a smart man
Living day to day
I use my poetery
To express what I want to say

I hold no advanced degree
From some fancy college back east
When all is said and done
I have a lot of common sense at least

If you read my writings
You may choose to disagree
That is quite alright
It doesn't really bother me

It's okay to disagree
Not to see eye to eye
Just because we don't agree
Neither one is the bad guy

The feelings that I express
Are mine and mine alone
Every word that I write
Is never etched in stone

My opinions change from time to time
Just like other people do
Because we change as we grow
That also includes me to

So, though I may not be the smartest
Man you'll ever meet
I can assure you of one thing
I'm firmly planted on my feet

I am nobodys fool
I take nothing for granted
Even when the seeds of truth
Aren't always firmly planted
