Novice Pen Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Novice Pen

Her kind ears were lent
to words that whined
of a love that was unrequited
a love that wasn’t seen.

Serene words by her cradled
a sad girl into deep sleep
I woke when she left my side
but a poem illuminated of her warmth.

With a soul so pure
and patience like no other
she listened with her heart
as I mourned out mine.

Pretty eyes and a pretty mind
she was an angel with a pen
writing down her woes
just to heal my own.
