Now To Where? Poem by saadat tahir

Now To Where?

Rating: 4.5

Do you lie lonely at night?
Worn out an done with fright.

Ever have you tried to fight?
The stark, cruel an silent night.

Do you in your thoughts flounder?
Like so much of blown powder.

Isn’t it? You try to sleep.
Only to hear your heart weep.

Crickets, their unending whirr.
in a lonely heart doth fear stir.

Distant call yon tahoo tahoo,
or frantic shriek of a cuckoo

Wish you; for flowery gardens?
An collect instead silent pardons.

Do you try to soothe your self?
Or pick a book off the shelf?

Can’t I see you once more?
Even if you bang the door!

O’ I lament we parted ways
I squirm an dream of olden days

The landscape is barren bare?
Hushed, aback, now to where?

I love the title and the thoughts it conjures......and the possibilities. 'You try to sleep Only to hear your heart weep' That is spookily accurate - for so many readers I'm sure. Thanks a mil for the reassurance that I am not alone.
