O Jesus Christ Upon The Holy Cross Poem by Dr John Celes

O Jesus Christ Upon The Holy Cross

O Jesus Christ who’s nailed upon the cross!
You died to save all sinners from hell’s fire;
My sins since birth have also been the cause;
Forgive my sins and cleanse my soul’s desire.

O bleeding Jesus Christ upon the cross!
You shed your precious blood for mankind’s sake;
O Lamb of God and King of kings, Lord Boss!
Do take me too to Thine Elysium’s Lake.

O Jesus Christ on Calvary’s mount cross!
You bore the flogging, though you were sinless;
Your death and resurrection is our loss;
But you will come clad in celestial dress!

O Jesus crowned upon His head with thorns!
What ridicule you bore with patience great!
Your holy cross in every soul adorns;
May grace help me to enter narrow gate!

O Jesus Savior of the human race!
You suffered on behalf of souls you made;
You are the Light, Truth with thousands’ sun’s face;
Your love for righteous men can never fade.
