Objective Reality Poem by Raymond Farrell

Objective Reality

We all can
Justly extoll
The virtue
Of motivational proverbs
And such like
No one
Would deny them
Their place
But objective reality
Is a stool
With more than one leg
And if you plan
To milk a cow
It is best
To do so
Using a stool
With all its legs

Objectiveness, at least to me is a quantifiable thing. Repeatable experiments are used to 'verify. Observing changes what is being observed and minds are not as objective as they think they are

Important never to rely on one's senses alone when trying to determine what the reality of a situation is. Plato emphasized this but Wallace Stevens who is in vogue as a poet now among the academic elite thinks you can rely on your senses alone. A foolish idea, demonstrated by people researching in basic neuroscience to be completely wrong. Another reason why people find so much poetry irrelevant.

With all its legs to support us in life. Nice piece.
