Of Germaine Greer Poem by Francis Duggan

Of Germaine Greer

Germaine Greer tells us of our wrongs we see that as her failing for such truths few do ever wish to hear
For telling it as she sees it most Aussies her do not revere
Still Germaine she is a great thinker and as a renowned writer respect she does command
And she speaks out for the first Australians of this sunny Southern Land
The raw truth it can be quite bitter a challenge to many 'twould seem
And many see Germaine as bitter as one who is letting off steam
They say of the outspoken Germaine that Britain's loss is Australia's gain
But with them I surely must differ for I am a fan of Germaine
She stands up for the First Australians and that in itself a good thing
And for that alone she is a heroine and her praises I'm happy to sing
A tall and a beautiful looking woman though one might say she is getting old
A successful and World renowned author her books in the millions have sold
She speaks out and she is quite intelligent and though some of her comments do give rise to ire
She speaks out for women and indigenous Australians and she is one many admire.
