Of Illowa In December Poem by Francis Duggan

Of Illowa In December

The sun it is shining in a sky blue and gray
In this beautiful place known as Illowa today
A forecast high for the day of twenty degrees
With only a very slight freshening breeze
The contented cattle in grass to their knees
Laying chewing their cuds in the shade of the trees
In the paddocks lush and green after recent December showers
White butterflies are flitting among the wildflowers
Of such natural beauty a poet would write
A poem for others to read, memorize and recite
Of Illowa in December of the coastal Moyne Shire
A place of natural beauty free to all to admire
The warm air full of the buzzing of flies and of bees
On a sunny afternoon of twenty degrees.
