Of Vision's Past Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Of Vision's Past

Of Vision's Past

in musty shades of oversight
dusty memories are intact
feeling slack and under mind
lay in secret passages, in cells of flesh

treatment long ago, hidden and overlooked
come like a train on a down hill track
greedily gobbling innocents dream, spitting out with forked tongue
childish visions of lollipops fade into fog
like the ghost on last night's dream

left alone to sort out and conceal
the aftermath of someones thrill
the weak and innocent child's ' ordeal
old age cast a shadow through a clear Vail

to unlock doors of endless pain
the evil monster was not hidden well
no disguise forewarning momma to hold her hand
' ageless misery those brutes do cause '
for little girls and boys hold onto those screams of NO!
