Oh Innocense... Poem by JoAnn McGrath

Oh Innocense...

Oh innocense where have you gone

Upon parchment canvas I beg the days back

I would have liked to have been

all and more that you asked of me...

I once was fearless and mighty

But now I cower in the corners

I once saw beauty in the rain and mud

But now my vision is clouded

I once was ignorant of this harsh world

But now my eyes are open to it's evils

I once was softened wax

warmed by the sun

and molded by your hand

Now I am but hardened clay

waiting for the healing rains

to soften me again some day
