~~~John Buchan~~~
a name to remember
Statesman, novelist and poet
Scottish by birth, born in Perth
in the year eighteen seventy-five.
He carried the Title
'First Baron Tweedsmuir'
and was called to The Bar in
his mid-twenties.
John Buchan, so well-known
for 'The Thirty-nine Steps'
made into film by Alfred Hitchcock.
He also brought joy to us with
Biographies of Scott, Raleigh,
Cromwell and Caesar Augustus.
How great!
For five years he held the post:
Governor General - Canada,
and wrote novels up to the year
nineteen-forty, the date he died.
'The Great John Buchan'
We honour his name with pride.
