On Love Poem by Jahir Hasan

On Love

I enter your body and stay there
For almost three days and months.
I must confess
That inside your body
I find a wall clock
That I'm aware of when I'm away.

I dive deep into the depths of your body
And all that I find
I do not write in poems!
Because if I say what I know
Some of it will be lost in the telling.

So I don't tell you anything
About what I take away with me
I stay in your body. It's better to say,
'We won't disturb your sleep.'
I never ask anyone about these things.
If I did, I would die just hearing it.

Yet, if all those secrets
Were not written in love poems,
They would not be poems at all!
