On My Birthday Today, July 18 Poem by Felix Emeka George

I awoke this morning
To my ringing cellphone
And out of cellphone came information:
I was born on this day,
Some years back
I picked the phone and it broke into song
To my surprise;
In celebration of my birthday.

My friends, amazingly numerous
Posted and are still posting
Wonderful wishes on my Facebook timeline.

Today, I have time to reflect on my days
I through my mother came forth today
I have come of age from a
Tiny beginning by God's grace

Happy birthday to myself
I love me
I thank you God there up above.
And for myself
That the number of years I have lived not be a reminder of how old I stand
But of triumphed joys,
Of trophies of gold and pearls of excellence
Treasure handfuls left from every journey
I have conquered small prizes through life
Praise to God and
you....pray for me.
