On The Day I Was Born Poem by Dan McGonagle

On The Day I Was Born

On the day I was born so helpless and small
My guardian stood there ten feet tall
His name is Gabriel... sword in hand
He is my protector... mine to command

Sent to guide me through my life
Closer to me than any wife
Invisible to the naked eye
Yet still his presence makes me sigh

He's guarded me when things went wrong
Comforting me with his angel song
Lifts me up when I feel low
Always softening the hardest blow

Still today now that I'm old
Around me yet his wings enfold
His guardianship will never cease
Granting me eternal peace
