On Winning A Big Lottery Poem by Dr John Celes

On Winning A Big Lottery

The win if sure, the sum seems huge;
A dream comes true, but plans not made;
My life’s gonna change from rags to riches;
I may live high style in a mansion of my own!

Or own an island, buy a yacht;
Travel around the globe, and have a great time;
Insomnia would strike me first, the joy within could even kill;
I could donate to charity and thank the Lord for His mercy.

With money come problems too like jealousy;
Newer friends and more foes;
First the money must be secured;
I need to improve life’s security!

Or would I turn a missionary
Or build a church in glorious style
Or start a business profitable
Or dole the profits to deserving kids?

I could become a star overnight,
And chief guest for many functions;
Many would lure me to business,
Or give me threats to life itself!

Money can bring power and wealth;
Money can’t give one better health;
Money is root of evils too;
One can’t know as to what to do.

May be, I could turn somewhat mad,
And feel the win was curse indeed;
And pray to God to give me peace
Of mind and heart and plead for reprieve!

Too much is always dangerous;
It is like flood on a drought-hit land!
Money is needed for earthly wants;
Too much could spell disaster sure!
