Once Again Today At My Fate I Cried, A Urdu Ghazal By Shakeel Badayuni In English Translation
Once again today at my fate I cried
Looking into my hurting heart I cried
Bound in love by chains I still had some hope
When hopes left me, at the chains I cried
I had beautiful dreams while in love
Waking up seeing the reality I cried
My heart was calm when her letter came
Reading that she didn't love me, over and over I cried
I gave away my heart and still didn't find love
I was doomed to have no love, at my fate I cried
'Shakil' was happy his prayers for love will be answered
But when he met sorrow after sorrow, at his life he cried
SHAKEEL BADAYUNI
aaj phir gardish-e-taqdīr pe ronā aayā
dil kī bigḌī huī tasvīr pe ronā aayā
ishq kī qaid meñ ab tak to umīdoñ pe jiye
miT ga.ī aas to zanjīr pe ronā aayā
kyā hasīñ ḳhvāb mohabbat ne dikhāyā thā hameñ
khul ga.ī aañkh to tābīr pe ronā aayā
pahle qāsid kī nazar dekh ke dil sahm gayā
phir tirī surḳhi-e-tahrīr pe ronā aayā
dil gañvā kar bhī mohabbat ke maze mil na sake
apnī khoī huī taqdīr pe ronā aayā
kitne masrūr the jiine kī duāoñ pe 'shakīl'
ab mile rañj to tāsīr pe ronā aayā
