Once You Have Found It Poem by Bill Simmons

Once You Have Found It

Rating: 5.0

She asked me about the heart in love
And of life about such things
Why does the heart it hurt so
What do these feelings mean

I guess because I was older
And she knew I would speak true
I smiled and I told her
About the heart all I knew

The feelings the emotions
That overwhelm inside
Once you have found it
It lives forever, never dies

I said yes I do know
How love it can hurt so
But sometimes the worst is yet to come
When the one must let it go

Once you have found it
And it's true you know it's so
Sometimes still there is a cruel to be
When it rips right through your soul

What if… she then said
I have found it and know it's true
What if…then she touched my hand
If that someone was you

With her hand upon mine
I could see my wedding band
I said I think I do know
I think I understand

I said yes I do know
How love it can hurt so
But the worst is so yet to come
When you must let it go.
