One Eyed Poem by Dean Meredith

One Eyed

I like
Certain aspects of craziness
Mad witches howling at the moon
Wounded soldiers of love smarting from their betrayals
The innocents with all their priceless naivety
Nature's beauties amidst so much savagery
Plain Janes and boring Fred's harming no-one but themselves
Old fashioned, one step after another, stoics to die for
The mediocre and unworthy, clean as fresh wishes
Sweet dreams and happy endings, with knights and maidens
Corny characters saying clichéd things in romantic stories
That peace I see in people sleeping, snores included
Assholes like me but less arrogant
The flawed and wanting to improve
Contemptuous believers wielding symbolic swords
Flat doubters searching for grounded truths
Ordinary souls doing extraordinary things
Unpretentious nobodies important beyond belief
Simple humans just trying their best
Friends despite everything and what others say
Kind words when they don't come easily
A foot rub for a leper or the unwashed
Respect for lesser saints and sinners
Smiling at our own ineptitudes and failings
The man who can't provide and the woman who cannot be kept
Life for all its crazy highs and lows

Despite not getting what you don't like, Dean, I am convinced by this poem. I suspect there's not much out there you can't find something to like about.
