Only... Poem by Dr John Celes

Only...

Rating: 2.5

Only...
The orphaned know what 'tis to be unloved;
The houseless know the value of a hut;
The street dwellers, what's insecurity;
The slum children know what's poorest hygiene!

Only...
The destitute know what is one square meal;
The unborn know how cruel moms can be!
The rape victims know what is helplessness;
The whistle-blower, how hunted he is.

Only...
The elderly know how neglected they're!
The widowed know how world could them abuse;
The honest know how mean the world can be;
The righteous know how satan hunts their souls.

Only...
The anguished hearts know how unfair, world is;
The tortured victims plead for death to strike;
The common man knows how ignored, he feels!
The tax-payer feels pinch of tax-burden.

Only...
The voter knows how promises aren't kept;
The citizen knows white money turns black;
The poor ryot knows how the weather hurts;
The minorities feel so insecure!
