Or The Night Pushed You? Poem by Al Ameen Shuaib Assayouty Ologele

Or The Night Pushed You?

Rating: 4.0

Noises overwhelmed the night I live
of late traders living a way of life
of workers and early traders finding a way back home in hours
of children returning back from schools
vocational training held them through
of assembly men of cohorts
casting and litigating concerns and affairs
of theirs it may be, and of theirs it may not
and the victory of the night eavesdrop
to the sayings of the moon and stars
till they tend to retreat and the sun recast.

The noises have covered up ears and wills
that the vulgar sayers are covered up in steels
the night becomes longer and tends to last still
and the will to admit has perished wills
longer in the decayed mind of human
corrections now become abandoned ills
even the red pen's ink has dried up
young girls in shorts skirts and corset
and those with long attire are threatening beneath
selling their dignity to couchè of men
who used them, paid them, and denied them in marriage
and the little disparity between you and the animal got sold off
covered up in the blood of shamelessness
hoping for the best to lay aftermath
but the GOD we serve is not just for aftermath
the blood ruined the family tree
and the stinking smell last for long
even for the innocent infant
is it of desperation?
or the night pushed you?
