Originality And Language Poem by Sharon Smith

I write here now and have something to say..
as one just asked..'why do I write this way? '
In 'archaic' theme woven through my page..
Do I have to defend..keep my words in a cage?
Some in their 'wisdom' try to stifle the word..
If it is something they wished to make unheard..
Why is this so..it would make many rifts..
words spoken from the heart..are somebody's gifts.
If I told Lewis Carroll..'speak that way not this'..
How many gifts would this world just have missed?
If we told Edgar Poe..'Don't use language that way'..
Would his words be around as gifts in this day?
All works from the heart are original.. if not?
All poets 'round the world would be' fake with their lot'
There are many that are touched..by great works in their day..
But one little poem can touch one that way..
just one 'little' person could be touched by few words..
of an obscure little piece that has hardly been heard..
Isn't that such a gift.. that one person could bring..
To have one being touched..even though fame can still sing..
What works for one may not touch another..
Condescension is poison when poured on each other.
