She walks the street late at night
a lost child without a home
looking for a way out of the darkness.
She had ran away from the life she had before
one where a demon beat her down with his fists
and abused her not only physically but emotionally.
But she has just traded one demon for another,
now the glaze in her eyes shows the spiralling murder to her soul.
The track marks on her arms, the liquid fire in her veins
provide the false strength she needs to do what she
must to survive.
She is a seductress in the night,
night time is her time.
For her the sun doesn't seem to shine.
Where did her childhood go?
Did she ever really have one?
She looks at the skies above
and wishes for an angel from Christ
to come and take her away from this place.
From out of the darkness and into the light.
Your poem touched me.One thing I believe that make a good poet is that they take reality and put it in the art form of words and in this poem you have done that.

This is a very poignant and powerful free style poem, Pearl, one very effectively written. Your well chosen words painted a stark scene of modern life so vividly that the reader can feel the pain in it. It is a great example of what poetry is all about. Carl.
