Over Poem by Sydney Daniels

Over

I watch you drive away
And don't know how to feel.
It isn't over, it can't be over
There is no way this is real.

How did it happen? Where did you go?
My mind knows but my heart doesn't understand,
Numb from the shock, from the actuality
That I am holding your ring still warm in my hand.

Emotions sprinkle across my soul
Anger building, time lost so easy to resent,
Acceptance comes too slow.
I am left only with relief, why no regret?

its a mystery that the mind decides to wallow in either pleasure or pain, while the heart carries effect of that.
