Overcome Poem by Kalee Skriver

Overcome

Running, jumping through a deserted forest.
The vegetation has long ceased to grow,
And devastation has reigned longer than anyone has ever known.
This lone doe searches for a place to rest her head.
A ray of light shines through the darkened branches,
but it is too far ahead.
She feels so lost, so confused.
She thinks she has the right way, but stumbles,
her limbs so bruised.
All of a sudden, up arises a single flower.
Just a tiny daisy, but exuding an immense power.
A symbol of peace and love,
Overcoming all obstacles with a divine force from above.
The tiny doe, once strangled by dying life,
Now finds the confidence to disregard all strife.
She must take it all in stride, and push away her pride.
Whatever happens, happens.
Just find a reason to smile.
In the end all the pain was worthwhile.
