Panacea Poem by Alexandre Nodopaka

Panacea

Humans are not unlike bacteria.
They are just bigger and meaner.
Well, OK, they dress up on Sundays
and holidays and dress down on Fridays.

Besides, bacteria are cannibals.
The microbiome of Earth
if not the World is a vicious place
with all sorts of nasty behavior going.

Each has its gods reminding us of
the Romans and the Greeks and
the Egyptians claiming theirs
most powerful.

As for me our god is just the most
divine and smartest bacteria of them all.

It eats itself.
