Pandora's Box Poem by Chris Zachariou

Pandora's Box

Rating: 5.0

Two by two, the crew
board the boat to El Dorado
with a rout of rusty knights
sitting at the captain's table.

"It's a beautiful boat;
probably the most beautiful boat
in the world", the captain pouts.

"Show us a picture of the streets
paved in gold", we ask each day
but the imposter skipper lies.

Four years we been searching
for the promised golden fleece
Hope is exiled to Pandora's box
and the captain is now seasick.

Lovely poem which presents an overview of loss and gain during the four years witnessed by US under the defending President's rule. Thanks.
