Panopticon Poem by Robert Sheridan

Panopticon

Requires a knowledge of contacts,
contagions, proximity, & crowding,
at the same time divides space &
keeps it open; assures a surveillance
which individualises - sentiment of an
invisible omniscience; an old mode of
obtaining power of mind over matter,
in a quantity hitherto without example;
Helps one to arrive at a solution as-to
the complexities involved in the handling
of large numbers of societies criminals -
also known as contact management, or
the Committee for the Reform of Criminals -
they effectively leave the watching to the
watched; *Note: prisoners would also be
used as menial labour, as-in our present,
outside the walls, current conditions,
where we all suffer from innumerable
political and financial difficulties;
eventually we all obtain a favourable sanction
called the great beyond.
