People Like You Poem by Francis Duggan

You may not be a perfect woman or man
But since to live a good life you do the best you can
And you are willing for to help one of help in need
Then you are a good person a good one indeed.

Not a high achiever as achievers go
And not the type many would wish for to know
But like it is said your heart's in the right place
And you are a credit to the human race.

Far too many high achievers corrupt in some way
But having said that some good people amongst them 'twould seem fair to say
Doesn't matter your social standing, your job or the value of your car
Since any of these does not tell us of the person you are.

To do a good deed if you can every day
And be kind to others and respect to them pay
Then as a good person your status does grow
And people like you one can say nice to know.
