Perfect Retreat, Perfect Getaway (Old) Poem by Shelby Barker

Perfect Retreat, Perfect Getaway (Old)

Don’t you realize
you’re much too good for this life?
It’s surely the right time
to get away,
Let’s get away.
Whatever tomorrow brings,
Whatever hurt you see,
I’ll be there in your passenger seat.
Down the road we go,
Just keep on drivin’, love
Til the blacktop ends.
Past the mountains,
the sea;
Come to the edge with me
to the coast of somewhere beautiful.

We’re leaving our worries
To be the one and only
together it’s just us against the world.
I’m seein’ through
a new point of view with you,
lookin through my heart-shaped glasses.
The sun is shinin’ on me now/a great spotlight when I’m with you;
And as day turns to night,
we’re still enjoying out ride
without needing the headlights
to the coast of somewhere beautiful.

Through the sunsets
and the sunrise,
the hope I see in my love’s eyes,
when there’s nothin’ to say but we can talk all night,
baby we’re on the coast of somewhere beautiful.
