Persia Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Persia

Persia

Long ago as we know
differed things high and low
countries and borders
governments and rulers.

Europe meant just Greek
neighbouring Asia was Iran
new names like Turkey, Syria
or Iraq, and so on
had no room on the map.

Europe and Asia lived along
with love-hate, peace and wars.

The time of Herodotus
Iran meant prosper
and Greek disaster.

He did what others do,
(then and now)
packed and moved
displaced immigrates.

Received and welcomed was
as are the brains now.

Capital or polis was then Pars
and he wrote: "Persepolis"

Now the wild of Europe
Powerful Governor,
totally unaware
Calls "Iran" "Persia"

When you, I see a child or a dumb
we smile.

I do same when reading, hearing
"Persia".
