Petals Poem by Heather Cropper

Petals

Rating: 2.7

She looks up at the stars;
questioning why she was then. Staring at the dark sky.
She asked why it isn’t fair.

Tears fell down her cheeks, losing hope in every second.
Petals falling to the ground, she wanted this to end.

Surrounded by falling petals, her tears began to slow.
A sense of release sets in as the wind began to blow.

Alone with petals and open sky,
She dropped to her knees asking, “Why? ”
“Why must everything fall? Can’t we all just live in the skies? ”

Her questions were unanswered; she sat there in the dark.
Clasped hands together in wait, for an epiphany to spark.

A dropp of water falling down, numerous following along. One, then two hitting her cheeks, listening to the rain; create a song.

Now exhaling vanilla lace, her heart, body, and mind begin to shake. Listening to the earth’s new song, her walls began to break.

Stars were in the fade, the skies revealed the hate. Rapidly losing her grasp
as she realized her fate.

Hope and love,
a sign from above. All she really needed
was to hear that she was loved.
